The Pennsylvania Chapter of Equity in Athletics (EIA) is dedicated to preserving broad-based athletic programs at Pennsylvania schools. Most immediately, EIA is committed to stopping the disproportionate cuts on men's teams at the campuses of the State System of Higher Education (SSHE) to comply with Title IX's "three-part test." EIA's game plan is to sue the U.S. Department of Education and eventually the SSHE to overturn the "three-part test," thereby eliminating the reason for the cuts. If SSHE does not undo past cuts and postpone future ones pending the outcome of the litigation, EIA will add SSHE and its campuses as defendants and seek a preliminary injunction against the cuts. If you are a Pennsylvania athlete at the scholastic or intercollegiate level or a concerned parent, alumni, or fan of Pennsylvania athletics, SSHE's cuts present an opportunity to overturn the engine behind the senseless cutting of men's sports and small-roster women's sports nationwide. Even if you are not affiliated with SSHE campuses themselves, your scholastic or collegiate program could be in jeopardy from future cuts. Join EIAEIA is a nonprofit membership corporation, and does not charge dues or fees to its members. As a member, you would not be a named party to EIA's litigation, but EIA could seek to repeal the three-part test on behalf of you and other EIA members. EIA accepts both individual and institutional members. If your organization wants to join EIA, please contact members@equityinathletics.org. If you want to join as an individual, please complete the form below. |
