Oregon Chapter

The Oregon Chapter of Equity in Athletics (EIA) is dedicated to preserving broad-based athletic programs at schools in Oregon. In particular, EIA's Oregon chapter intends to sue the University of Oregon to prevent the planned elimination of its wrestling team.

If you are an athlete or coach in Oregon at the scholastic or intercollegiate level or a concerned parent, alumni, or fan of Oregon athletics, EIA presents an opportunity to overturn the engine behind the senseless cutting of men's sports and small-roster women's sports nationwide. Even if you are not affiliated with currently affected campuses, your scholastic or collegiate program could be in jeopardy from future cuts.

Join EIA

EIA is a nonprofit membership corporation, and does not charge dues or fees to its members. As a member, you would not be a named party to any of EIA's litigation, and EIA could not seek to recover money damages for you. But EIA can seek to repeal the three-part test on behalf of you and other EIA members, and it can seek to reinstate programs (such as the University of Oregon's wrestling team) that a school has planned to eliminate.

EIA accepts both individual and institutional members. If your organization wants to join EIA, please contact members@equityinathletics.org. If you want to join as an individual, please complete the form below.

EIA's Privacy Statement

Neither Equity in Athletics, Inc. nor its chapters will transfer members’ contact information to third parties, other than Equity in Athletics, Inc. or its chapters, unless required to do so by law enforcement or court proceedings. Because EIA's Oregon chapter is a separate corporation from EIA, however, EIA will forward your membership information to EIA's Oregon chapter for it to add you to its membership.

Mission: What Are You Joining?

As indicated above, EIA will attempt to preserve broad-based athletic programs by challenging Title IX's “three-part test,” under which schools must have athletic participation proportional to enrollment (prong 1), continually add new teams for one gender without also adding reciprocal sports for the other gender (prong 2), or fully meet one gender’s interests without fully meeting the other gender’s interests (prong 3). Repealing the three-part test would restore the original, interest-based Title IX regulations, thereby lessening the pressure to cut men’s teams and small-roster women’s teams.

While repealing the Three-Part Test could help both men’s and women’s teams by eliminating proportionality’s pressure to cut teams, repeal will remove the protections afforded women’s teams when schools downsize without reaching proportionality. But by eliminating the proportionality-based pressure that inspires many cuts in the first place, both men’s and women’s teams should benefit.

I agree with EIA's mission and want to join EIA-Oregon.
